<General Instructions>

#Avoid the highest time of tourism in Japan: It is the highest days of air ticket price around 15-17 of August because of ‘Obon’. Traditionally, Obon, observed around the fifteenth of August, is the home coming time for the souls of ancestors, according to the teaching of Buddhists.  Families get together to receive their honored guests, prepare special offerings and food, get the priest recite Buddha’s teachings, and visit tombs.

Today, people think this time best to go abroad. In short, Sunday 17 of August is still quite busy in airports either domestic or international.

#Hotel rate in Yokohama area: Hotel rate is as high as in Tokyo area.  Please do not forget that, in Japan, daily shares of the hotel rate are usually displayed by a number of people unit not a room unit. Examples of booking site are as follows.
 Even the cheapest rate is around 6000yen (some US$60)in the sites above.  We will introduce you more reasonably priced ones later.

#Hotel location: We strongly recommend hotels near Yokohama station. As for all transportation to the YNU campus, Yokohama Station becomes the starting point. The reasonably priced hotel becomes the remote location from the station that requires you extra effort to get the campus.

#Campus access: There are three ways to the campus, bus, taxi, and metro as you see the HP of YNU. It is approximately 1,500 yen by taxi to the university for ten minutes. It takes around 15-20 minutes by bus with 210 yen. You can reach the nearest metro station to the campus, Mitsuzawa-kamicho, the second from Yokohama metro station,  in five minutes, but unfortunately, it is necessary to walk afterwards for 15 minutes.    Details will be announced when the registration web site is open.

#Conference venues of the last day: All of the conference venues of the last day (Friday 22) move to the Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall (Jack’s Tower) from the campus of the university. The building of the hall is appointed to the Important Cultural Property of the country. (See Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall  It is located near Yokohama Osanbashi Pier. (See osanbashi)

#Cruise conference dinner on Friday 22: After the end of the conference, we plan the official dinner party on the ship (depending on weather). The pier which the cruise leaves is not so far from the memorial hall above. Extra charges will be required for the cruise dinner (approx. US$75).  Details will be announced later.
